I’m excited to report that Shoshanna Nambi’s second Kulanu-Abayudaya Women’s speaking tour, which ended yesterday in Hartford, CT, went extremely well! Shoshanna met with students, families, congregations and other groups across the United States and in Toronto, Canada, to talk to them about the role of women in the Abayudaya (Jewish) community of Uganda, focusing on the women’s and community health programs around Mbale.

Shoshanna experienced some special moments during her month-long tour, including her first snowfall!

On Sunday, November 2, Shoshanna participated in a Day of Learning at Temple B’nai Abraham in Beverly, MA. She and Rabbi Allison Adler jointly led the morning shacharit service. Her presentation was due to start right after the service, but Rabbi Adler stopped to take Shoshanna outside so she could see snow for the first time! They said Shechecheyanu, the prayer to thank God on a special occasion, and then Shoshanna returned to the sanctuary and children and adults were moved to say shechecheyanu together with Shoshanna. The community loved Shoshanna and her presentation, and both children and adults asked wonderful questions. It was a great day!
