A “Wandering Jew” Experiences Zimbabwe
February 26, 2015
Kulanu volunteer Sara Eisen of New Jersey, with new friends in Zimbabwe, December 2014.
Welcome back, Sara!
Kulanu volunteer Sara Eisen of New Jersey recently returned from a three-month stay in Harare, Zimbabwe, where she was working with and teaching the Lemba Jewish community. We think you’ll enjoy her blog, “A Wandering Jew in a World of Wandering People“, which includes wonderful stories, photos, and videos of her time in Zimbabwe.
In addition to teaching Jewish Studies, music, Israeli dances and more, Sara also recorded interviews with some Lemba community members and shared the final video with Kulanu. Click here to watch these interviews on YouTube and learn first-hand about this intriguing group, which has come a long way since Kulanu first encountered them a few years ago (see kulanu.org/lemba). And just for fun, check out this video of her first music class in Harare (as described in this charming post on her lively blog).
Thank you, Sara, for your time and energy, and for your amazing contributions to the Harare Jewish community! We look forward to your continued involvement with “all of us” at Kulanu – in Zimbabwe and beyond.
