Welcome New Members of the Kulanu Board and Staff!
Kulanu welcomes two new members to the Kulanu Board. Rabbi Bonita Nathan Sussman has been an active Kulanu volunteer since 2007, traveling to and working with isolated Jewish communities in India and Cameroon. She and her husband, Rabbi Gerald Sussman, recently returned from Cameroon where they spent time with the newly emerging Beth Yeshourun Jewish community. Bonita is also Kulanu’s coordinator for the Bene Ephraim community in India. Peter Persoff began working with isolated Jewish communities in 2005, when he was invited to participate in a trip with Temple Shomrei Torah to the Abayudaya community in Uganda. While there, he met Kulanu volunteer David Wise who was, at that time, teaching math at Semei Kakungulu High School. Peter was inspired to return to Uganda as a Kulanu volunteer in 2008. and since then he has served as adviser to the Abayudaya on financial reporting and engineering issues. Read the rest of their bios here. We have high expectations for Bonita and Peter and look forward to their continued contributions to Kulanu!
Watch for an extraordinary article about the Sussmans’ trip to the Cameroon in the fall issue of Kulanu’s newsletter!
At the same time, we welcome John Cape as our new Programming and Development Coordinator. John works with me in the office three days a week, and it is a joy to work with him. He comes to us with experience at Outward Bound, Seeds of Peace, and the Museum of Jewish Heritage, and he brings an amazing variety of interpersonal, writing, and technical skills to this work.
