Uganda Visit

We started the year off with a fabulous trip to Uganda for the joint celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Abayudaya community and the 25th anniversary of Kulanu.

The group of Kulnau leaders and volunteers was welcomed by the Abayudaya Jewish community in Mbale, which is in the eastern part of Uganda. They spent two glorious Shabbat weekends together with the Abayudaya and even learned how to make challah African style.

The trip included visits to see Kulanu’s projects in the area including spending time at the Hadassah Primary School, which Kulanu has supported for the past 25 years. Other activities included creating Ugandan handcrafts with the Namutumba Women’s Group.

Unfortunately, Harriet Bograd, Kulanu’s president, was unable to attend do to health reasons, but she shared this lovely video message to mark the occasion of the joint celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Abayudaya community and the 25th anniversary of Kulanu.
