A Jewish Journey from Uganda to URJ Camp Coleman

Our President, Harriet Bograd, is so thrilled to be hosting Sarah and Shoshannah this month.

Harriet loves this blog by Rabbi Noam Katz about Sarah Nabaggala and Shoshanna Nambi at Camp Coleman. Noam Katz was a Kulanu volunteer in Uganda in January, 2004 when Harriet visited Uganda for the first time with Laura Wetzler, guided by Samson Shadrak. Like Noam, she also loved getting to know Sarah and Shoshanna in 2004, and especially remembers them taking the younger children out of services for outdoor activities during the Torah reading, and teaching the young children to sing “Am Yisrael CHAI” with enthusiasm. She also vividly remembers Noam Katz singing “Mirembe,” which he had just composed, at the first Kulanu Abayudaya Music and Dance Festival.
