Conversions and Weddings in Nigeria
In August, Kulanu’s First Vice President, Bonita Nathan Sussman, and her husband Rabbi Gerald Sussman traveled to Nigeria. The Sussmans of Staten Island, NY were joined by Rabbi Gershom Sizomu of Uganda, Rabbi Moshe and Meira Saks of Queens, NY, and Rabbi Ari and Rachel Saks of Hillcrest, NY. The community in Nigeria had requested a beit din, a Jewish rabbinical court, to perform the milestone events. In total, there were 94 conversions — with the youngest convert being 1 month old — and 10 weddings (chuppahs pictured above).
